Umoja bridge-Open New Avenue for Transport and Biofuels Development along Mtwara Corridor

The expectation of having reliable transport and biofuels development along Mtwara corridor have been heighted by the inaugural of Umoja Bridge at Mtambaswala village in Mtwara. The bridge is 720m long and 13.5m wide connecting Tanzania and Msumbiji acrross Ruvuma River. The idea to construct this bridge was initiated by our late father of nation ,J.K.Nyerere on Tanzania part and late Samora Machel from Msumbiji. The idea was succeeded and developed with former presidents of Tanzania and finalised by H.E J.M.Kikwete,president of United Republic of Tanzania .This blog wishes a lot of congratulation to President Jakaya Mrisho (Tanzania) and Armando Emilio Guebuza(Msumbiji) for enabling this construction.

Of course, the issues of biofuels development for energy security in Tanzania and Msumbiji are currently attracting great attention and strong interest to many stakeholders in this corridor. But,the accomplishment of this bridge is also  bringing new focus of how production of  biofuels in this corridor will scale-up national economy while meeting the objective of biological diversity? Among the environmental objectives to analyse are on how the reliability of transport along the corridor will stimulate more extraction of biomass fuels which can  bring  effects to environmental  quality objectives including sustainable forests, rich diversity,non-toxic environment and flourishing rivers and streams.
This glob is asking, how should we adapt activities for safeguarding  environmental biodiversity?
